A Daytona Beach, Fla., native who makes his home in New Smyrna Beach, Bryce Hammond is an artist who made his reputation painting urban scenes inspired by the graffiti and street art he practiced while squatting in abandoned properties. The images he recreated on canvas owed much to the architecture he recalled, most of it infused by what he would call a "culture of poverty."

The Daytona Beach News-Journal wrote about the artistic efforts by Hammond, who graduated from Furman in 1992 with a degree in art.
