Art students get a ukulele lesson

February 12, 2013 | Carol Anne Winchester

In addition to being a master of ceramics, Furman art professor Bob Chance also makes music. The only sculptor in a six-piece "postmodern jug band"—the other five members are painters—Chance has built a few instruments and understands the delicate relationship between form and function. And what better way to illustrate this concept to a Sculpture II materials class than to have students build and play their own ukuleles.

Check out the video to hear more on the project from art major Kate Worthen ’13 and Professor Chance.
